Today's the day! Finally it was Ravensbourne's show at GFW! I headed down to Earls Court with my class to have a nosy at the stalls and work by Graduates from various universities.
As a student of Ravensbourne myself, I found it really exciting and inspiring to see what our students have produced to represent our university. The catwalk show was amazing, and the collections were so varied, Ravensbourne have some very talented graduates! The show featured some quirky looks including crazy hamburger prints, caged headwear, and a wacky plastic puffa jacket with My Little Pony's trapped beneath the pleats!
The collections were innovative and I could spend all day writing about the different themes and looks but I'll give you a few of my favourites from the show.
Leanne Warren
One of my favourite collections was Leanne Warren's, which stormed the runway with lots of pink hues, metallics and cute repetitive prints. Her collection touched on a religious theme with crosses in her print, halo crowns and bindis, her song choice also played on the holy theme. She completed the looks with shimmery jelly sandals!
Luke Harris
Luke Harris' gothic menswear was a strong collection, black floaty garments including a long skirt and a jumpsuit ,accented with silver chains and buckles and topped off with silver caged headpieces.
Bex Elley
I also loved Bex Elley's collection, structured womenswear featuring sharp leather dresses with cut out details, slits and studs. The look was sharp and sophisticated with lots of texture.
Chen Yu Wang
Chen Yu Wang showed a playful collection, with cutesy floral prints, fairytale colours, pom pons and chunky pastel knit, the whimsical theme was carried on through the choice of music which had a 90's cartoon game sound.
Jane Swansbury
..And finally Jane Swansbury, her striking designs included garish hawaiian print shirts, metallic accents, bright colours and tropical prints. Not forgetting her offbeat shirt with David Attenborough's face emblazoned across.
As well as Rave putting on an outstanding catwalk show, two of our Fashion Promotion students won awards, Rebecca Chambers won the New Media Award and Sophie Christiansen won the award for Per Aquum Marketing. A very proud day for Rave!!
