Did you know? ..Every Christmas the UK uses enough wrapping paper to wrap the world nine times!
Vivienne Westwood has partnered up with one of my favourite cosmetics brand, Lush for a second time, to design a 100 percent organic cotton scarf. The 'Climate knot-wrap can either be worn like a scarf or used instead of gift wrap. The scarves will come in two colours and the design is inspired by Furoshiki, the traditional Japanese style of wrapping everything from gifts to groceries,to care for the environment and reduce waste. Many of the knot wrap scarves are made from recycled plastic bottles.
Lush shares ethics close to the designers heart, such as helping fight climate change, as well as campaigning for environmental, animal and human rights issues, so it makes sense that they would collaborate for a good cause.
Vivienne Westwood has said "These Climate Revolution not-wraps can replace wrapping paper and will last a lifetime. More important, when you buy them you join an uprising: the climate revolution that we need if we are to have a future that we can survive and thrive in."
I think the scarves are such a simple way to save on so much waste every year, and the money made goes to a good cause so they're definitely worth investing in this Christmas!
The knot-wraps go on sale on November 8th and all proceeds go to raising awareness for the climate revolution and other charities involved in the cause. They are also available online at www.lush.com
