Honor comes to London

New York based label Honor, has arrived in the UK. The label is said to be similar to Miu Miu, but more affordable. hmm not exactly affordable for a student, as the lowest price item, a silk blouse will still set you back £575! 

The brand was founded in New York in 2010 by designer Giovanna Randall and will be available via online department store Matches. 

According to Honor, they specialise in craft and refinement, and believe their elegant evening wear,intricate embroidery and the most luxurious of fabrics lend an uptown sense of sophistication.

I can see the similarity between Honor and Miu Miu, particularly the prints and use of embellishments.

Film of the year!?

Everyones talking about it and its not even out in cinemas yet.. the most anticipated film of the year, The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Carrie Mulligan arrives in theatres this May.

Fitzgeralds tragic tale of millionaire Jay Gatsby and his unrequited love for socialite Daisy Buchanan set in the roaring 20's, is regarded as one of the greatest American novels. Directed by the legendary Baz Luhrmann, who was listening to The Great Gatsby audio book on a break in Siberia after Moulin Rouge came out, when he realised he had to adapt it into a film. Baz Luhrmann delved into the life of the author by reading letters and journals by Fitzgerald and his wife to get more of a precise feel of the characters from the book. Lurhmann's wife Catherine Martin is the costume designer for the film in collaboration with Miuccia Prada. 40 period outfits adapted from previous Prada and Miu Miu garments have been designed for the film.

The dress Daisy wears to Gatsby's party is inspired by a look from Pradas Spring/Summer 2013 runway collection.
